We’ve already told you about how our delicious seafood is the perfect solution for days when you’re hungry and want to stay healthy, but did you know that listening to jazz improves your health as well? Costas Inn is happy to host Jazz Night every Wednesday evening at 8 PM full of our sumptuous crab cakes and smooth jazz. Here are some of the many ways that jazz can help your health.
Jazz Boosts Your Brainwaves
Studies have shown that listening to jazz and other types of upbeat music alters the type of brain waves you produce while you listen. As a result, you are able to focus more easily and boost your productivity. Jazz slightly raises your heart rate, even when you aren’t working out, to keep your blood pumping. The special brain waves, Theta waves, produced when listening to jazz music are linked to creativity. Next time you are struggling to find the right answer to a problem at work, put on some jazz.
Jazz is Relaxing
Listening to jazz music is a very effective way to reduce anxiety and relax. Music that is about 60 beats per minute will produce Alpha brain waves and Delta brain waves. Alpha waves relax the body and mind. Delta waves can actually help you relax enough to sleep if your brain produces them for long enough in a reclined position.
Jazz Helps Your Health
Stress is tied to almost every major disease or ailment today. Since listening to jazz relaxes the body, it can help people recover from trauma and reduce pain symptoms. A recent study demonstrated that listening to jazz music could reduce the effects of chronic pain up to 20% and decrease the duration and intensity of pain during a migraine. If you suffer from chronic pain, frequent headaches, or just don’t feel as good as you would like to, try turning on some jazz!
