There isn’t anything more Maryland than gathering with friends or family for a crab feast, and what better time than 4th of July weekend? Whether you are planning a backyard blowout, a patio party, or a picnic-style seafood spread, Costas Inn has everything you want to make your Independence Day delicious and memorable. Read on for a checklist for hosting the best Maryland crab feast for the 4th of July!
Freshly Steamed Crabs
Start off with the star of the show, which is our Maryland blue crabs. Costas Inn provides hot, freshly steamed crabs seasoned with Old Bay. Whether you are feeding a few or an entire crowd, we’ve got the proper size and quantity of your feast. Order ahead to make sure you’ve got plenty for the holiday weekend!
Crab Tools and Mallets
No crab feast is complete without the proper gear. Make sure every guest has a wooden mallet, crab knives or forks, and plenty of napkins and paper towels. Cracking and picking crabs is half the fun, and sharing memories with your friends and family around the table is something you don’t want to miss.
Plenty of Old Bay
We steam crabs with Old Bay, but there is no such thing as too much Old Bay seasoning. Keep extra seasoning on hand for dipping or sparkling over your sides, like corn on the cob or French fries. It is the flavor that screams Maryland summer.
Paper Table Covers
Get rid of those fancy tablecloths and lay down brown paper or newspaper to catch the shells and seasoning. This will make cleanup a breeze, plus it is nostalgic and makes your spread look authentically local.
Ice Cold Drinks
A solid crab feast needs something cold to wash it down. Stock your coolers up with a variety of drinks, like ice cold beer, lemonade, seltzers, or tea! An orange crush is another drink that goes perfectly with crabs.
