Seafood lovers are always looking for that perfect pairing to balance out the sweet, delicate flavors of several different types of seafood. Crabs are especially popular for this reason. Crab is currently in season, and there is no better time to sample the crab cakes we have on offer here at Costas Inn. Here are some wine selections that we recommend!
First up on our list is chardonnay. Try it with baked crab cakes. Other crab dish variants you can pair this wine with include Dungeness crab, steamed crab, baked crab, and softshell crabs. If your crab cakes are a bit dry, don’t worry! The chardonnay has enough butteriness to cover it up.
Next up on our list is riesling. This wine is refreshing enough to be a great choice on a hot summer day. Imbibe it with deep-fried spicy crab cakes. You can also sample it with mayo-dipped crab, spicy roast crab, and a spicy crab boil.
Depending on your taste in wine, this might be more your style. Again, it’s great with deep-fried crab cakes. Steamed crab, crab salad, and crab risotto are also fantastic choices if you’re looking for something to create a tasty pairing.
You have probably never heard of this wine before, and that’s okay! It’s an aromatic white wine that goes well with crabmeat covered in white sauce. It is also fantastic when you have it alongside crab cakes, of course. If you want to try steamed crabs with butter sauce, then you should enjoy it with a glass of viognier.
Finally, let’s talk about sparkling wines. It’s great with deep-fried crab cakes (seems to be a theme!) and also deep-fried softshell crab. So if you’re in the mood for fried food that isn’t chicken or shrimp, give crab a try!
