Tips For Incorporating Seafood Into Your Diet

Tips For Incorporating Seafood Into Your Diet

Come down and enjoy a seafood dinner tonight at Costas Inn!

Do you want to eat more seafood? There are several health benefits of eating fish and other types of seafood a couple of times a week. However, there are many people are unsure of how to do in a healthy manner. With that said, keep reading and discover a few tips for incorporating seafood into your diet!

Try Eating More Shellfish

Just like most types of seafood, shellfish is very healthy in moderation. If you want to work in more seafood into your diet, try eating a  few types of shellfish! This list includes clams, mussels, and oysters. All of which contain healthy omega-3s! They can all be prepared in a variety of ways to appeal to your taste buds.

Don’t Overdo The Extra Fat

There are a few healthy cooking methods when it comes to seafood. If you want to enjoy a healthy seafood dinner, stay away from the fried stuff. Instead, go for something grilled, roasted, broiled, or baked. There is nothing wrong with having a fried piece of fish every now and again, but you certainly don’t want to make this a weekly habit.

Know Your Portion Sizes

Since many types of seafood have high mercury contents, you do not want to go overboard. As a general rule of thumb, try to consume approximately 8 ounces of seafood in a week. However, this can vary based upon a variety of reasons.

Eat A Variety

There are many types of seafood to choose from. Just be sure you work in a few choices that are high in omega-3s and lower in mercury like oysters and salmon.
