Four Common Ways To Prepare Your Oysters

Oysters are one of the healthier food available when it comes to seafood. They are versatile as you can prepare them in many ways. They are often compared to clams because of their similar texture and flavor. When cooking oysters, you have a few options available. Here are our top cooking methods when preparing this particular shellfish.

Try these different methods when cooking your oysters.

Try Baking Your Oysters

They should always be baked while remaining in their shell while cooking. Keep in mind that you can also add different ingredients and seasonings. You can get creative with this method as you can experiment with various toppings.

Or You Can Grill Your Oysters

While grilling, they should also remain in the shell. Many people add salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese for taste. By adding butter, you can also help them retain a crispy texture. Traditionally they are grilled for approximately ten minutes on high heat.

Cooked In The Smoker

When smoking them, you would need a smoker to do so. Smokers are great at cooking meats for an extended time under low temperatures. Remember that you do not need to smoke them as long because of their size. It is recommended that you smoke oysters for at least 90 minutes.

Steaming Oysters

The steaming method requires a steamer pot to prepare them. Steaming enables you to cook your oysters within a short amount of time as they retain their natural flavors and juices. Steaming is the healthiest way to prepare this shellfish because you don’t need to add fattening oils or other toppings that increase caloric intake.
