Some Delicious Side Dishes for Crab Cakes

Gazpacho is a cold soup that features tomatoes, and although you might not think it is a good fit, with spring and summer just around the corner, something cold and refreshing could hit the spot with your crab cakes!

Are you planning on broiling some crab cakes for your next dinner party? Then you’ve got to be sure that you have some tasty sides to round out the meal. Sure, you could stick with fries, tartar sauce, and rice pilaf, but there are so many more options out there! Here are just a few of them

Remoulade Sauce

Any time you serve something fried, you are going to want a zesty dipping sauce for it. As we mentioned before, tartar sauce is a fine choice for something like fish and chips, but when you want to serve crab cakes, you shouldn’t feel tied down to the same old sauces every time out. This spicy sauce has its origins in France but got remixed by way of Louisiana, and we all know how much of a punch that Cajun-style cuisine packs! To make it, you will need to combine several ingredients into a mixing bowl, such as mayo, lemon juice, and horseradish, just to name a few!

Gazpacho

A second suggestion is to use gazpacho. Gazpacho is a cold soup that features tomatoes, and although you might not think it is a good fit, with spring and summer just around the corner, something cold and refreshing could hit the spot

Coleslaw

You can’t go wrong with coleslaw, either! Although many people find coleslaw to be bland, you don’t need to worry about that! Get red and green cabbage together with carrots and parsley. Mayo, apple cider vinegar, and Dijon mustard can take your slaw to the next level. Celery seeds, salt, and pepper are also essential ingredients for giving it some zip.

Roasted Veggies

Your platter of crab cakes could use some color. That’s where oven-roasted vegetables enter the picture. This option is lighter and healthier if you don’t want anything too saucy or too greasy. Asparagus by itself could be a bit ho-hum, but throw it in with carrots, yellow bell peppers, and cherry tomatoes and it can be fantastic instead!
