What to Drink with Crab Cakes

The best thing about drinking beer with crab cakes is that adding Old Bay to your crab cakes helps to intensify the flavor of crab and beer both!
- Champagne. If you’re planning a swanky holiday soiree, champagne and crab cakes are optimal food and drink choices. Champagne has brioche notes that bring out the flavor of fried foods. The crispy, fried breadcrumbs and tangy, mayo-based sauces pair well with the delicate flavor of champagne.
- Chardonnay. Chardonnay is a classic crab cake pairing. While a delicate champagne does a great job at bringing out the subtle brioche flavors, an oaked Chardonnay is stronger and great at emphasizing the exquisite, buttery flavors and sweetness of the crabmeat. We’d suggest a nice oaked Chardonnay for California, like Far Niente from Napa Valley, California.
