We are proud to announce that Flavored Nation recognized Costas Inn for our Maryland crab cakes. Last week, we traveled to the Greater Columbus Convention Center to attend this incredible culinary event. It was a great success, and we are honored to receive this kind of national recognition.

In Maryland, Crab Cakes are a delicacy. When asked about the popularity of crab cakes during an interview at Flavored Nation, General Manager Pete Triantafilos said “It’s the Maryland tradition…Maryland is about the crab cake.” Costas Inn has been serving up crab cakes for decades. Costas Inn opened in 1971 and is family owned and operated.

The crab cake that most people are familiar with is made of a blend of crab meat, various seasonings, bread or bread crumbs, milk, eggs, and mayonnaise. Once these ingredients are combined into small cakes, they are pan-fried, baked, or grilled. Triantafilos later said in the interview “Ours is just a genuine crab cake. No bells and whistles.” Costas Inn crab cakes are made with jumbo lump crab meat that is mixed with seasonings, spices and a homemade imperial sauce. They are served with cocktail and tartar sauce.
